Libraries are a valuable Community asset and are massively under threat globally. Faced with changing community requirements and increased financial pressures, there is a need to find new, additional ways to generate revenue, awareness and footfall…
Since 2013, we have helped Libraries across London transform their under-utilised space, creating an affordable home for hundreds of local startups. Through the process, which starts with a simple, free, scoring of possible space, we have established 10 x Workary pilots, 9 of which have been a success and are currently live, hosting 400+ Members who have helped deliver 300+ community events
Your Under-utilised space 5x options
TheWorkary PopUp (Pilot)
Following a FREE evaluation / scoring of possible space, and a successful score of 7+ (out of 10), we work with the Council & Libraries Team to set up a simple, risk-free 6x month Workary pilot. The aim, to define what success looks like (demand, sustainable income, events + more). We keep the setup as simple as possible, ensuring that we minimise the impact on local library teams and all work together to help maximise the pilot’s chance of success. Upon joining all members are actively encouraged to join their Library.
TheWorkary, [your town]
Following a successful Pop-Up, we work with the Council & Library teams to upgrade to a Workary and maximise the value of the project for all (Library, Staff, Members & Community). Upon joining all Members are actively encouraged to contribute to / support the local Workary & Library Events Programme. We also work closely with the library to understand how we can improve the Partnership – supporting & developing programmes & activities in line with the Universal Offer & the local Library strategy.
TheWorkary+ (under-utilised rooms)
Many sites & library services may have rooms that whilst are actually too small for a full Workary Pilot or Campus, are under-utilised & could be used to generate additional income for the Library. For this reason, we have created the Workary+ model. Simply put, we promote these spaces to our Network of local startups & entrepreneurs, who need both support & affordable space to help them start-up, stay up & grow up locally
Virtual Membership (Increase the power of the network)
Desk spaces are limited at each Workary & there are often local entrepreneurs who either don’t yet need a space or are simply waiting for a space to become available. These individuals often use their local Library (which provides resources & more) however may not be fully engaged or aware of the full Library offer. We have developed our Virtual Membership to make it really easy for any local startups + entrepreneur in the Borough to enjoy the benefits of both ‘Connecting’ to our Network + fully engaging with their local Library… without the need for the physical desk – everyone wins!
