Hello! My name is Laura Solaz, and I am a final year International Business student currently working as an Events and Marketing Intern for Wimbletech CIC.
I come from Valencia (Spain), where I started my degree four years ago. However, I have been in the UK since 2016 as it was compulsory to finish the two last years of the degree in a foreign country. I chose the UK because I thought that it would be a great opportunity for me to both improve my English as well as to find a job which would make a difference for my CV.
Even though it has been a tough task for me to find a placement I liked, eventually I got the opportunity to have an interview with David for this position and, afterwards, I got hired! 💪
Firstly, we went through a two-week period of induction where me and the rest of the interns were introduced to the company in more depth and learned about its functioning and many other essential aspects of the business.
Later on, we were relocated within the different libraries where Wimbletech CIC operates, being mine Rivertech (Rickmansworth) and The Workary Welling.
This first month of work has been very productive and fulfilling as we have been given many responsibilities and tasks to undertake both on our own and in teams. I have really enjoyed the team meetings where we all have shared out thoughts and concerns…I think that thanks to them we have been able to learn more about the others as well as to solve any doubts.
Moreover, we have been able to learn more about the Big and Small Byte sessions that are undertaken which I find very useful and interesting.
I am really looking forward to seeing how our internships allow us to grow and thrive, and I am sure that this will be a very enjoyable and productive experience!
