Hi there, I’m Martina Russo, an Italian marketer based in London. After my MSc, I decided to challenge myself in an international environment, to go out of my comfort zone and to meet other cultures. So I have moved to London, where I currently live with my big suitcase plenty of dreams and.. Itallian food! 🍕💭🎒
I’ve started the internship at Wimbletech CIC in February and from the beginning I’ve known how much is important this project for all communities and libraries in the UK. I was looking for an inspiring workplace where I could work and at the same time, I could make the difference, and actually I’ve found it. 🙏
The first two weeks, the other interns and I have discovered more about the CIC project, we have stepped in the CIC’s values and we have started to draft new proposal for improving the process. It was at that moment I have realised how many benefits this project has brought, is bringing and will bring for any under-utilised cultural space that could be used to create co-working and networking for young businesses, start-ups, just supporting the local community.
The moment I’ve most enjoyed was my first time as Community Manager. I was a little bit worried about the first tour I was handling and I was thinking how I could be a good helper for my members. Any doubts disappeared when I arrived at the site. The Workary Chiswick and Hanwell members were glad to meet me and everyone was friendly to each other and with me. This is what I think when I imagine to work in a motivating environment.
I strongly believe little things make the difference, and step by step, Wimbletech CIC is making doing that. I look forward to improve my skills and myself, growing beside the project. It could be a big opportunity for any unsure library’s destiny, for any start-up is looking for a workspace and more, and for any intern has involved in it, we could grow together, because together we are stronger! 💪🚀
Martina xoxo
